The most anticipated time of the year for film lovers has arrived! Tonight, November 7, the curtain rises on the 29th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival with a grand Opening Ceremony at the Alexela Concert Hall.

This year’s Opening Ceremony will be brought to you by Laura Võigemast and Ingmar Jõela, welcoming guests to an evening of red-carpet moments, the official opening film, and a few special surprises. The evening will be hosted by Lena Barbara Luhse.
You can find all films screening at PÖFF here.

For the first time in Estonia, the stage will feature Catalan artist Maria Arnal, whose work blends folk, pop, and electronic music. Known as one of the most distinctive voices in Spain’s new music scene, Arnal draws inspiration from the rich polyphonic traditions of the Iberian Peninsula.

From Catalonia also comes this year’s Opening Film – the unconventional musical tragicomedy They Will Be Dust. The film follows a terminally ill woman who decides to end her life through euthanasia, with her husband choosing to join her — leading to a surprisingly humorous and tender journey of love and self-discovery, filled with dazzling musical and dance numbers.

The evening will also see the presentation of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award, which this year goes to legendary Lithuanian actor Juozas Budraitis, and the Bruno O’Ya Young Actor’s Scholarship.
