The first Sunday of PÖFF is crowned by the world premiere of the Finnish-Estonian collaboration "The Missile", presented by actress Tiina Tauraite and producer Johanna Maria Paulson. In addition to the enchantment of Lapland, today's PÖFF takes a look at family models in Thailand, Georgia, Brazil and the periphery of the monogamous relationship.

The Missile

What missile? The events of 1984 in Lapland unfold in a gripping film made in cooperation between Finland and Estonia.

How to Make Millions Before Grandma dies

A woman in an abusive relationship and a lonely, seriously ill man meet and fall in love, embarking on a journey where mind and body, life and death are inextricably linked. This romantic drama premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. At the San Sebastian Film Festival, the film won Best Cinematography and the FIPRESCI Award.

Marianne, a pragmatic doctor, and Tor, a compassionate nurse, both seek intimacy beyond the boundaries of conventional relationships. Both have their own idea of love and the young man seems to inspire them to create a "different" kind of bond. "Love" shows how intimacy can be achieved without conforming to the social norms that govern relationships.

Eunice Paiva, a mother of five, is forced to change her life when her family falls victim to a violent government attack. Based on the memoirs of Marcelo Rubens Paiva, this moving story helps reveal an important part of Brazil's hidden history. Brazil nominated the film for the Best International Film Oscar.
