The full programme is here, and tickets are now on sale! From 6–22 November, PÖFF’s 30th edition brings 230 feature films and 259 shorts from 87 countries to Tallinn and Tartu. Together with Just Film and PÖFF Shorts, we’ll present 107 world premieres and 47 international premieres — with plenty to discover along the way.
This year’s selection brings together emerging filmmakers and established directors, new discoveries, festival award winners and Oscar favourites. Whether you come with a carefully planned schedule or choose a film on a whim, we invite you to make room for something unexpected.
“A festival stays relevant by giving audiences a reason to be curious and to spend their time with us. This year’s programme reflects very different lives and experiences, yet tells stories we can connect with,” says Triin Tramberg, Artistic Director of PÖFF. “Giving Baltic cinema a central place in this anniversary programme feels especially meaningful. We want international audiences to discover the diversity of filmmaking in our region, and local audiences to see familiar places and experiences through fresh eyes.”
Our anniversary edition puts the cinema of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania at its heart. Focus: Baltics brings together close to 40 feature films alongside a selection of shorts, spanning classics, contemporary works and premieres. The festival’s opening film, Ulya, is also a collaboration between the three countries, led by Latvia.
Meanwhile, our Spotlight on Basque cinema offers a chance to discover films and meet talent from the Basque Country. The programme extends to Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, opening up opportunities for filmmakers to connect and collaborate.
PÖFF’s main programme features seven competitions, with another four at our youth and children’s film festival Just Film and six at PÖFF Shorts.
The Doc@PÖFF International and Baltic competitions run from 7–13 November. The Official Selection, First Feature, Rebels with a Cause, Critics’ Picks and Baltic Film competitions follow from 13–19 November.
There is plenty to explore beyond the competitions, too. Discover award winners from the world’s leading festivals and Oscar favourites, including Andrey Zvyagintsev’s Minotaur, Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine, Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo’s The Black Ball, Paweł Pawlikowski’s Fatherland and Peter Farrelly’s I Am Rocky.
In total, 13 films in the programme are their countries’ submissions for the International Feature Film Oscar, while 15 appear on the European Film Awards pre-selection list.
Follow your interests through Best of Festivals, Best of Docs, environmental and science films, sports films, Midnight Shivers, Standing with Ukraine and Old Gold. Or travel back to our beginnings with PÖFF Celebrating! This Is Where It All Began, revisiting a selection of Nordic films screened at the very first PÖFF.
A festival is also a place to meet, ask questions and hear the stories behind what you see on screen. PÖFF and Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event expect to welcome nearly 2,000 guests from more than 50 countries, including Christopher Hampton, Tim Blake Nelson, Golshifteh Farahani, Griffin Dunne and David Dawson.
Celebrating its own 25th anniversary, Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event runs from 9–20 November, bringing audiovisual professionals together for project presentations, discussions, training and networking.
Behind our 834 screenings is a dedicated festival team, including 463 volunteers and 85 interns, whose energy and care help make PÖFF a welcoming place for audiences and filmmakers alike.
Tickets cost €13 for regular screenings in the PÖFF main programme and €11 for Just Film and PÖFF Shorts.
