Step into the world of high-end film and television and gain the skills to excel on international productions!
This 1-day workshop for the hair & make-up department working in film and TV is packed with in-depth knowledge on international production dynamics and captivating live demonstrations to excel technical skills on your next production. The workshop is mentored by internationally acknowledged hair and make-up artist Juliana Ferreira (“Gladiator II”, “Black Mirror”, “Napoleon”, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”).
The day will start with an overview and practical tips on how UK film crews operate – what do they expect from local teams? What are the common tension points and challenges? Gain insider knowledge on set etiquette, role responsibilities, and how to work seamlessly with international teams.
Followed by two live demos to uplift the technical skills required for hair & make up artists and designers.
Live PTM prosthetics Demo: silicone prosthetics for burns and stab wound effects, and probondo transfers of scars based on “Gladiator II” and Apple TV+ “The Essex Serpent”. You will learn the difference of silicone and probondo materials, application and weathering make up & hair techniques.
Live Period Wig Demo: A talk through the technique and process to style a 1930’s women’s hairdo on a high-definition cinema-grade lace wig, and a live demo showcasing prepping an actress's hair accordingly under the wig and the techniques for securing and gluing an HD lace wig to achieve a seamless look, plus a live demos on men wig styling.
Whether you're a junior or already established/ experienced makeup artist, hair stylist, or crew member eager to enhance your industry knowledge, this workshop offers an exciting mix of practical skills and professional expertise to help you thrive in international productions!
The workshop will be carried out in English.
About Juliana Ferreira
Juliana Ferreira is an established makeup artist and hairstylist with a distinguished 15 year career in film and television in the United Kingdom. Her expertise encompasses a comprehensive range of skills, including hair, wigs, makeup, prosthetics and body painting.
Her journey in the UK film industry startedin 2009 qualifying at the Christine Blundell Make-up Academy for Film and TV in London. Shortly after, she became a member of the British Skillset Film and TV Scheme for new entrants, leading to her first jobs on British TV dramas. Originally from Brazil and resident in the UK for 25 years, Juliana brings a unique cultural perspective and a global outlook as international film crew to every project. Her extensive credits include collaborations with major UK and US broadcasters and production companies, such as Warner Bros., Marvel Studios, RSA Films, Lucasfilm, BBC, Apple TV+, Disney, Fox, Netflix and others. Recent credits include: key hair and makeup artist for stunts on “Gladiator II”, hair and makeup supervisor for the British film “The Critic” starring Ian McKellen, and a core crew member of the hair and wigs department on Marvel's “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”.
