“ROXY”, a German-Georgian-Belgian co-production, written and directed by the genius Georgian director Dito Tsintsadze, is a compelling drama about the German taxi driver Thomas Brenner, an invisible East-German man with a plan.

Thomas is played by Germany’s outstanding acting talent Devid Striesow who has been decorated with numerous awards and nominations for both cinema and TV roles. And before you ask: Yes, it is the European answer to Martin Scorsese’s marvellous movie “Taxi Driver”! But it is more than just a contemporary update, reflecting the geo-political status quo we all live in.

Humble Thomas feels that life is surpassing him. But then, suddenly, the Georgian gentleman Levan and his dog Roxy come into his life and this brilliant movie loops up to be like the best US Indie films of the 1980s – with of course a rom-com twist.

Money, love or loyalty – like in all cinematic masterpieces we know, Dito together with his amazing cast (special respect to my dear buddies Vakho Chachanidze, Ivan Shvedoff and Thorsten Merten) and his highly gifted cinematic crew have managed to create a highly entertaining genre film that breaks all boundaries.
