A stagnant 40-year marriage is shaken when their daughter announces her engagement to an older industrialist.

Lore (Dagmar Manzel) and Harry (Joachim Król) have been married for 40 years. Their relationship, full of arguments, reconciliations, affection and irritation, has gradually driven them apart. When their little granddaughter comes to visit and their grown-up daughter Julia announces her wedding to a wealthy industrialist old enough to be her father, the couple’s stagnant routine is thrown into disarray.

The impending wedding becomes a catalyst for the emergence of long-buried emotions, unspoken regrets, old affairs, and overdue conversations about unfulfilled dreams and the meaning of life in retirement.

Director Andreas Dresen and screenwriter Laila Stieler continue their successful collaboration: Following the box-office hits and multi-award-winning films “Gundermann” (PÖFF 2018), “Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush”, and “From Hilde, With Love” (PÖFF 2025), their ninth joint project premieres this year. “Love, After All” focuses on two characters and few settings. Tragicomic, sharp, lighthearted and tender. A love story.
