Job Interview
Gabriel is a young rapper who lives in the outskirts of Bogota. We follow his daily struggles as he tries to fulfil his dreams. His friends, family, deals, affairs go by having us as witnesses from afar. But do we really know what is going on?
“Job Interview” proposes a bold framework, accompanied by some masterful takes and sequences (don't miss the astonishing 'underground market' sequence) which give us a deep image of Colombia as you have never seen before, and makes us stay in our seats and be ready to explain it later. It's a piece of engaging and mesmerising conceptual cinema with far more sense of humour than most essays while crafting an even stronger statement.
An old friend of the festival (“The Contestant”, PÖFF's Main Competition 2017), the filmmaker and musician Carlos Osuna proves himself as a truly free filmmaker. He delivers a brave film, with serious focus on topics and crazy moves, and at the same time, a film which will make you reflect and reconsider what you know about the characters and, above all, about the context, and what you really know about reality when a movie ‘sells’ you a story. All in all, quite a unique cinematic experience.
