Black Nights Film Festival’s formal opening ceremony takes place on Friday the 12th of November at 6 pm at Alexela Concert Hall. Come and celebrate the start of one of the most important cultural events of the year!
At the opening ceremony, Holy Motors band is taking up the stage and the film The Story of My Wife is screened. The winners of Black Nights Filmfestival’s Lifetime Achievement Award and Bruno O’Ya’s Award for a young actor will be announced. The host of the evening is Sander Rebane. Director Karl Laumets.
NB! Dress code: black tie.
In order to capture the celebratory atmosphere, we kindly ask the public to arrive at the concert hall at the latest by 5.40 pm, which would leave time for taking photos on the festival’s black carpet.
Ildikó Enyedi’s romantic drama The Story of My Wife will be screened after the ceremony. Set in the 1920s, a middle-aged Dutch seaman bets his cynical business partner that he will marry the first woman who enters the café they are sitting in. Starring Gijs Naber and Léa Seydoux.

In order to provide maximum safety at the Festival, it’s possible to get a COVID-19 test for only 9€ through the Medical technology company Certific’s mobile app by using the code PÖFF2021. You can do the test 24 hours before the event in case you are not feeling well. This way you will keep everyone around you safe. You can purchase the test from the Certific homepage and it will be delivered to your nearest Smartpost parcel locker the next day. Certific’s app will provide instructions on how to do the test and you will receive the result together with a QR-code.
