Tallink Hotels

Tallink has been a long-time supporter of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF). While Tallink's ships fulfill dreams at sea and their hotels and restaurants create experiences on land, PÖFF brings these experiences to life on the big screen! We spoke with Ave Svarts, a member of Tallink Hotels' management board, to learn more about this dynamic partnership.

One of Tallink's key values is joy – be it the joy of work, the joy of life, or simply the joy of a wonderful day. The main thing is to know how to notice it amidst the rush of everyday life. At PÖFF, we, too, focus on joy: the joy of films, the joy of audiences, and the joy of organising the festival. Together with Tallink Hotels, we are a warm and welcoming host to international guests from distant corners of the world. When the reception is heartfelt and caring, Estonia is worth visiting even when the weather is dark and cold! This warm hospitality is precisely what PÖFF and Tallink Hotels jointly strive to provide.

Why is Tallink supporting the cultural sector today?

For Tallink, cultural sponsorship has a broad impact. It’s not just about supporting a single theatre or event, but about contributing to the vitality of Estonian culture as a whole. Tallink is a major patron in the Estonian cultural sector, being the main sponsor of both the Estonia Theatre and Vanemuine Theatre, as well as supporting a variety of other cultural events.

"Culture and creative work in our native language is an invaluable treasure, forming the foundation of our identity as Estonians, allowing a small country like ours to be truly unique in an increasingly globalised world. The achievements in the film sector today speak for themselves. Supporting PÖFF is an honour for Tallink!" says Svarts.

Tallink as a film

We also asked what kind of film could be made about Tallink Hotels. According to Svarts, as in recent years, the hotel business could be depicted as a disaster film, a horror, or an adventure flick.

"But the most fitting genre might actually be a dramedy, where real-life situations lead to relatable moments and side-splitting laughter, because all sorts of things happen in hotels! The main characters would definitely be of quirky and endearing personalities, optimism and sense of humour would carry them even through the toughest moments. They’d manage to find a way out of the most impossible and absurd situations," says Svarts.
