One day in May 1873, Rudolf Tobias, the first Estonian composer and organist, was born in Hiiumaa. He was inspired by a life-affirming mood, and he always believed in a better future. Classical French cuisine had already spread in Estonia during the time of Rudolf Tobias. Restaurant Rudolf has one of the first Estonian cookbooks that was very popular during Tobias’ lifetime. At Rudolf, we have drawn inspiration from the European adventures of the great man and bring you the best of modern French and European cuisine, paired with world-class cocktails and wines.
Our chef Sten Märtin considers French cuisine to be the cornerstone of modern food culture. He values clean, clear, and distinctive flavours that make up a true work of art. He draws inspiration from only the best European ingredients and has also worked at a Michelin-starred restaurant. ‘Fall in love with the process & the results will come’ is a saying that he likes to use and follow in his actions.
Good food becomes a real experience when accompanied by great wine, cocktails, and service. Erik Tammeleht, who is associated with the French Coupe Georges Baptiste and the Estonian Bartenders Association, and has also won a title at World Class, ensures the best quality of Rudolf drinks and service.
Rudolf brings together the best elements of the French restaurant culture and the modern cocktail world. Restaurant Rudolf was created out of a passion for French food, drink, and the restaurant world.
