Moment Surrounding the Opening Ceremony
The anniversary show Round and Round looked back on three decades of PÖFF. Three pianists from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania brought the festival’s Baltic focus to the stage, weaving film music from all three countries into a performance on three pianos.
PÖFF presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to Estonian animator Priit Pärn, Estonian composer Sven Grünberg and Icelandic director Hilmar Oddsson. Oddsson was among the filmmakers whose work featured at the very first PÖFF in 1997, and his film Driving Mum went on to win the festival’s Grand Prix in 2022. ERR
The ceremony was followed by Ulya, Latvian director Viesturs Kairišs’s drama inspired by the life of legendary basketball player Uljana Semjonova, with music by Estonian duo Puuluup.
