The final deadline for submissions of Black Nights Film Festival and both of the sub-festivals is the 24th of August.

We have opened the film submission for the 27th edition of Black Nights Film Festival and both of our sub-festivals - youth and children's festival Just Film and animation and short film festival PÖFF Shorts! The regular deadline for competitive and non-competitive feature film programs is the 1st of July 2023.

We had 4350 submissions from 115 countries last year - let's see if we can top this!

For the first time, young people worldwide are welcome to submit their films to the #youngfilmmaker international competition programme at Just Film Festival. This is a unique opportunity to participate in the biggest A-category film festival in Northern Europe.

The #youngfilmmaker programme was introduced in 2021 aiming to bring short films by Estonian young people to the big screen. As the programme was accompanied by a massive success, Just Film opens now the door to all young film enthusiasts around the world aged 7-19 years. Just Film programme director Mikk Granström says: “Just Film is a global meeting place for young filmmakers and a world-class youth film festival.” He adds: “You always have to dream and think big. Thus, we are entering the #youngfilmmaker programme to the big, international arena, so all school children all over the world could apply to an A-category youth festival.”

The #youngfilmmaker grand prize will be presented during the official BNFF award ceremony. Additionally, all the young filmmakers selected for the programme will gain access to the biggest film industry gathering in the region Industry@Tallinn.
