PÖFF and Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event's international training program Discovery Campus invites young film professionals and students to take part in masterclasses and lectures by internationally recognized mentors!

Among the renowned mentors are costume designer Debra McGuire from the series Friends, director Jessica Hausner, Emmy nominee Miriam Cutler, and others.

Although most of the Discovery Campus masterclasses and workshops are aimed at the 40 young filmmakers selected for the program, there are also public lectures and events that are open to anyone interested. All you need is Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event accreditation or a day pass.

According to Triin Tramberg, the leader of Discovery Campus, the mentors participating in the program and their experiences are generating excitement. "Well-known and respected leaders in the international film world are coming together in Tallinn, and we all have a unique opportunity to hear about their experiences right here. I really hope that both young and experienced filmmakers from Estonia and our neighboring countries will find the opportunity and time to come and learn from their valuable and unique experiences," she adds.

Discovery Campus public lectures on November 19-21:

• A Post Lab presents: visual development – how to get a unique look that supports the story with Edmond Laccon.
• Meet the Director meeting with director Jessica Hausner, who will talk about her career path.
• A Post Lab: Cutting corners for micro budget, where industry experts Niko Remus and Katriel Schory will explain how to work creatively on a small budget without sacrificing quality.

In addition, public masterclasses and lectures will be held as part of the Discovery Campus sub-program. Focusing on the artistic side of film, Black Room will concentrate on makeup and hairstyling this year. Interested participants are invited to a lecture on November 19 by the iconic Hollywood costume designer Debra McGuire, known for her work on the TV series Friends and The Morning Show.

As part of the Script Poolprogram aimed at young screenwriters, directors, and producers, there are also several public workshops and events:

• The Business of Film – a workshop on financing, profit models, and the business side of filmmaking.
• International Screen Institute sessions - What does a sales company do? How to develop a festival strategy?
• Script Pool project pitches, where five teams selected for the program present their projects to the audience and jury.

Music Meets Film brings together composers, directors, producers, and sound designers, focusing on creative collaboration in the film, music, and gaming industries. Interested parties are welcome to attend the following events:

• Emmy-nominated composer Miriam Cutler's lecture Director-Composer Lab: Composing the Cut, which is a practical insight into the collaboration between director and composer and the creation of a score.
• Panel discussion Immersion Through Music: Shared Tools of Film and Game Scoring. Composer Liina Sumera, director and game developer Nicola Piovesan, and music director and game developer Natasha Skult will analyze the similarities and differences between film and video game music.
• BAFTA winner and composer Atli Örvarsson will hold a master class, where he will introduce his work process. The masterclass will be moderated by Estonian composer Ardo Ran Varres.
• A discussion entitled Dialogue on Contracts: What Should and Shouldn't Be In a Contract, featuring attorney Priit Lätt (TEGOS) and composer Helena Tulve, who will discuss contracts and risks.

Black Nights Stars program supports young actors at the beginning of their international careers. Interested parties are welcome to participate in public events:

• e-TALENTA presentation/Luci Lenox workshop How to have an international career without leaving your country?
• Panel discussion Netflix, Tenet and Vikings: Valhalla - what opportunities do these films and series bring to actors from the Baltic Sea region? with Frank Moiselle (casting director for Vikings: Valhalla), Heli Jürisson (casting director for The Agency, Tenet), Raakel Huikuri (talent agent for Vikings: Valhalla), actors and former Black Nights Stars program participants Pääru Oja and Henessi Schmidt.
• Workshop Contracts that protect the actors with Priit Lätt and Silvia Urgas, where experts from the law firm TEGOS will discuss the basics of a good acting contract and what to keep in mind.

Frame Within a Frame training program for young operators will be held this year in collaboration with Aalto University and Studios. Public events include:

• Screenings of films completed so far by the eight participants selected for the program and feedback sessions,
• Screening of the Norwegian film The Emigrant, followed by a presentation by cinematographer John-Christian Rosenlund,
• IMAGO Technical Committee and ICLS presentation and discussion It's all about LEDs.

Discovery Campus and its sub-programs' public masterclasses and lectures will take place in Tallinn from November 18 to 21. Lectures and workshops will be held in English.
