'Yellow-Blue Butterflies' – a support event for Ukrainian children
More than 20,000 Ukrainian children have been deprived of their right to grow up in their homeland during the war – they have been forcibly taken to Russia!
This is a tragedy that must not be ignored.
„Yellow-Blue Butterflies” is an international initiative aimed at raising awareness of this issue.
On World Children’s Day, we invite you to show your support for all displaced Ukrainian children so that they know they are remembered and awaited back home.
Come and write your good wishes on yellow and blue pieces of paper – these will be folded into hundreds of butterflies, symbolizing childhood and hope, and delivered to children who have returned or are still waiting to return to Ukraine.
The goal of this series of support events, which starts in Tallinn, is to collect 20,000 wish butterflies – one for each child who has been taken away.
The event will feature a dance duet called „Wings” by Ukrainian choreographer Yaroslav Kainar, as well as a video performance „Gloria” by Ukrainian composer Roman Hryhoriv – a piece of music performed using the remains of Russian missiles fired at Ukrainian towns. Ukrainian children living in Estonia will perform the popular song „Україна – це ти”.
The evening will culminate with Ukrainian director Yelizaveta Holubenko’s multimedia short film „Yellow-Blue Butterflies”, in which a child’s experience of war is conveyed through dance.
The patron of the event is Estonian First Lady Sirje Karis.
Admission is free.
The doors to the concert hall open to guests at 5 p.m.
