Audacious short “Castratus the Boar” (2014) roared the promise that the Abele brothers are here to shake up not only Latvian film industry. Let’s witness a neverending dream of three brave, rebellious and gifted brothers. Prepare yourself for a radical and controversial road trip, which must be experienced only in the cinema. Creative duo Raitis and Lauris and visionary Marcis behind the camera filmed their wounded, intoxicating, sinful, evil, sensitive world without a final script and probably searched for their first feature for long months of production.

True life adventures of their close bipolar friend significantly inspired the indescribable genre-blending dramedy about an eternal feud between two brothers. Robert and Martin just seek to be free and independent while preparing for a contemporary art exhibition. Sleepless, alcoholic and drugged ideas are bound to shock spectators, friends and investors. Disgraced Martin runs away to hide at the farthest edge of the world, but Robert is determined to find him and bring him back to Riga.

This psychedelic inventive film surprises, scares, provokes, divides, shakes, stuns with magic of shamanism, uncovers inner demons. You never saw anything this daring and divisive in films from the Baltic countries. Time is right to enter the mysterious cube of the Abele brothers.

Vennad Lauris, Raitis ja Marcis on Läti filmitegijad, kes töötavad enamasti koos. Raitis on hariduselt psühholoog, kuid on filmihariduse saanud New Yorgi Filmiakadeemias. Lauris on omandanud filmirežii eriala Läti Kultuuriakadeemias. Marcis on aga õppinud samas koolis filmioperaatoriks. Vendade rahvusvaheline edu algas Raitise ja Laurise koos lavastatud lühifilmiga „Castratus the Boar“, mis pälvis 2015 Tampere lühifilmide festivalil grand prix. Kolm aastat hiljem valmis vendadel draamadokumentaalfilm paganlikest traditsioonidest, „Baltic Tribes, Last Pagans of Europe“. „Rahutud meeled“ on vendade esimene täispikk film. Lisaks filmide tegemisele on Lauris ja Raitis teinud muusikat kahele rokk- ja post-metal bändile Soundarcade ja Sonntags Legion.
