The first full-length film by Alejandro Amenábar (“The Others”, “The Sea Inside”) is an intense thriller that enjoyed a lopsided triumph at the Goya Awards.

Angela (Ana Torrent) is preparing her thesis on audiovisual violence. One day, she finds her thesis advisor dead in a faculty room where he was watching a videotape. She takes the tape, which turns out to be a “snuff film”, more specifically, the live recording of her classmate being murdered. Intent on investigating further into the matter, she requests help from a fellow student Chema, who is a fan of gore films.

The film won seven Goya Awards in 1996 including the award for Best Film, Best Original Screenplay and Best Director.
