Lembit Ulfsak. An actor who was elected the male star of the century and who managed to work in Estonia, in the USSR and, in the end, even in Hollywood. In order to celebrate his 75 anniversary this year, as well as the newly published book “Lembit Ulfsak”, PÖFF’s special programme, “The Golden Ratio”, will present to you three films that are included among his best role performances.

“Midlife Pleasures” is a an utter rarity, a pure-styled Soviet indie film. A modern ensemble film where drama tangoes with comedy and the seeming light-heartedness conceals talks of quite a few topics that didn’t even exist in the Soviet Union, such as a marriage crisis, alternative medicine, and the thought that people could sleep with each other for any other purpose than to have children.
“Midlife Pleasures” has a special place in Ulfsak’s filmography, as circumstances also made him the director of the film and he managed to do an extraordinarily good job.
