The Invisible Fight
USSR-China border, 1973.
Rafael (Ursel Tilk), is in the army onguard duty when the border falls under attack from flying Chinese kung fu warriors. Utterly fascinated by the long-haired Chinese hippie black-clad kung fu aces flying around blasting forbidden Black Sabbath music from their portable radio Rafael gets struck by a revelation; he too wants to become a kung fu warrior. Faith leads Rafael to an Orthodox monastery where the black-clad monks do their training but his road to achieving the almighty power of humility required is long, winding and full of kick-ass adventures.
Rainer Sarnet (1969) is a film and stage director, film critic, and creator of photo comics for newspapers. He has made several shorts and in 2007 debuted in features with „Where Souls Go“. „The Idiot“ came four years later, inspired by the Dostoyevsky novel. Sarnet has passionately loved Fassbinder and directed theatre plays by Przybyszewski, Gorky, and Jelinek. In total, he has made four feature-length films, all of which have been screened at international film festivals and won awards. His feature-length documentary "The Diary of Vaino Vahing", which premiered in 2021, was awarded of Best Documentary and Best Director at the Estonian Film and Television Awards (EFTA).
