The Cloud & the Man
Abhinandan Banerjee has done more in 30 years of life than some do in a lifetime. He started his creative writing and painting career at the age of 12, when he started contributing to newspapers. By the age of 15, he was a magazine editor and three years later he had his own publishing company. A brief detour into architecture studies ended instead with him diving into the world of film, although he is still involved in writing and graphic design. His first feature film draws attention with a peculiar world of thought, which the director has said to express his own philosophy.
Manik is a lonely middle-aged man who lives with his father, but with whom he has no contact. Instead, his life consists of taking care of his plants and ants, plus a spider and a lizard. But then a change happens in the man’s dull life – he notices a cloud in the sky that seems to follow him all the time. Life takes on a new, previously unknown value for him. Is it friendship or perhaps love?
A story of human loneliness in the city, with beautiful imagery and a refined style from start to finish. The film skilfully blends reality with heartfelt surreal poetry, evoking a question of feelings between the living and the lifeless.
