The Child
An intense relationship drama about a couple pushed to their limits on their quest to have a child.
Zane and Kaspars seem to have everything a happy couple could wish for, except a child. They have spent years trying to conceive, yet fertility tests offer no clear answers.
At 37, former professional swimmer Zane now coaches children and approaches infertility with an athlete’s determination. She tries everything from injections, vitamins and special diets to fertility clinics and even a healer who insists she can only conceive once she truly relaxes.
Kaspars, a well-known sports journalist, slowly comes to terms with the possibility that they may never have children and begins to believe that life can still be fulfilling without them. Zane, however, refuses to stop trying. Even as pregnancies and talk of abortion surround her, she remains convinced that her time will come.
Selected for Warsaw’s International Competition, Linda Olte’s intimate, meticulously researched drama explores infertility and the strain it places on a couple determined to stay together.
