Ten Months
What is at the core of life? Is it not one's drive to fulfil the heart's desires? But what if one's desire is constantly denied? How can a person hang on to sanity without giving in to obsession? In “Ten Months”, the filmmaker shows one of the strongest desires, a woman's innocent wish to be a mother and a series of events that challenge her on the way.
After years of failed attempts, Merav finally succeeds in getting pregnant. But the pregnancy comes with unexpected news. To complete the pregnancy, Merav needs the support of her family, who refuses to accept the pregnancy and tries to terminate it with all means possible.
After “Daily Bread”, 2014 (winner of Prix UIP Venice – European Short Film) and “The Cutoff Man”, 2012 (Venice Horizonz Award), Idan Hubel delights us again with a signature touch of his unique style and thematic focus. In “Ten Months”, Hubel depicts the complexities of motherhood from a psychological perspective. The careful presentation of close-ups and simplistically composed frames with shallow depth of field create an engaging visual language by meticulously spreading Hubel's voice in every corner. However, the brilliant and intense performance of the two female protagonists is the film’s cynosure who would leave a lasting impression on the audience.
