A startling film that takes on issues concerning abuse and domestic violence from all points of view.

One night, Pilar (Laia Marull) flees home with her son to take refuge at her sister Ana’s house. She has been abused for some time. Her husband Antonio (Luis Tosar) soon finds her and promises to do whatever is necessary to have her back. Antonio signs up for therapy. This is a process affecting not only the couple but also everyone around them.

Critically acclaimed for its unclichéd treatment of domestic violence, Icíar Bollaín’s film won seven Goya Awards in 2004, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress, and Best Supporting Actress.
