Solaris presents: Dog Cinema

Festival
PÖFF Shorts 2025

For one special screening only, Solaris Centre and the Black Nights’ short film and animation festival PÖFF Shorts are inviting polite dogs of all ages to join us at the cinema with their polite companions.

It is a dog's life, but it's still a complicated one. Dogs as peformance artists, dogs with a love life on their own, and, of course, dogs on the Internet (and you need to excuse one cat entering the picture). Our stories are told with dog actors or animated four-legged characters, and they reveal playfulness, commitment or simply unwillingness to submit to neglecting human companions. No underdogs here.

  • Everyone is welcome to the special screening, with or without a dog.
  • To accommodate dogs, we sell tickets for every other seat.
  • Each guest is allowed to bring only one dog.
  • Please use cinema seats for guests with two legs! If desired, you can seat your dog on your lap.
  • The dog owner is responsible for ensuring that both they and their friend play nice with other viewers and keep the cinema and its seats clean.
  • Five short films will be shown during the screening, and you can leave the auditorium between the films if needed.
  • For a better experience for dogs, the films will be screened at a lower volume than usual, and the auditorium will not be completely darkened.
  • Feel free to contact cinema staff for any concerns or questions!

A theatrical troupe is preparing to stage the play "Snow White." But this is no ordinary troupe - its lead roles are played by dogs. Snow White is a Collie, while the evil queen is portrayed by an Australian Shepherd. The rehearsals unfold as a beautifully absurd interplay, revealing the subtle power dynamics between human and animal. Seen through a dog’s perspective, we’re invited to reflect on our desire to love and be loved - and its deep ties to power and control.
