PÖFF presentation and film The Girl in Black
Come and experience PÖFF behind the scenes and enjoy an Estonian film classic!
Due to popular demand, PÖFF returns with a twist: a free presentation open to everyone who is interested.
Why is this year’s festival focusing on Catalonia? Which stars can be expected in Tallinn? How does the current state of the world influence the organisation of the festival?
And, most importantly, who will receive the PÖFF Lifetime Achievement Award?
Find out on Friday, 31 October at 2 p.m. in Apollo Plaza Hall 1 (Hobujaama 5).
There won’t be just talk – we’ll also be screening “The Girl in Black”.
But why this 1966 psychological drama by Veljo Käsper, which has been almost forgotten?
It’s not only because it is regarded as Estonia’s first condition film, nor merely due to its outstanding cinematography, which was recognised internationally at the time.
The most striking aspect isn’t even that the film explores growing loneliness – the protagonist Saale’s condition would likely be considered severe depression by today’s standards – and the struggle to overcome it.
We are showing this film for one specific reason, and it may surprise you!
Popular TV hosts Romi Hasa and Kristjan Gold will take a look behind the scenes at PÖFF.
There will also be surprises from our sponsors.
We thank Apollo Plaza for helping bring this event to you.
Please note: the presentation will be in Estonian, and the film will not have English subtitles.
Admission is free, and you can book a seat here.
