A bittersweet, darkly funny tale of breaking free, finding yourself, and discovering that life won’t wait forever.

For 45-year-old artist Sarah, this is not a hypothetical issue. With her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary approaching, they give her an ultimatum: she has one month to leave the family home. After a lifetime of being protected and supported by them, Sarah is suddenly expected to become independent. And there is one bizarre condition: if she ever wants to return, she must have a child to carry on the family line.

Thrown into a race against time she never chose, Sarah navigates dating, family expectations, and her complicated feelings about motherhood. What begins as an absurd demand forces her to confront how much of her life she has spent waiting to truly begin living.

“Like in my previous work, I’m drawn to characters who live between eras, identities, and expectations. “One Month” is intimate, ironic, but ultimately compassionate: a portrait of the quiet heroism it takes to keep going when time becomes your rival,” says director Maya Vitkova-Kosev.

Darkly comic and intimate, “One Month” follows Sarah between the security of home, the pressure to become a mother, and the frightening freedom of taking responsibility for her own life.
