A dynamic Chinese businesswoman pledges 30,000 new jobs and transforms rural Ethiopia.

When a massive Chinese industrial park takes root in rural Ethiopia, a quiet farming town becomes the unexpected frontier of globalisation. At the helm is Motto, a charming Chinese director, who must summon all her strength and diplomacy to push through a high-stakes expansion that promises 30,000 new jobs. Ethiopian farmer Workinesh and factory worker Beti, two women with their own dreams, have staked their futures on the prosperity the park promises. But as their initial hopes collide with harsh realities, they find themselves at a pivotal crossroads.

Filmed over four years with exclusive access, this film offers an intimate look at China’s vast but often overlooked influence in Africa, while exploring Ethiopia’s critical moment of transformation through the eyes of three strong women.
