He’s spent a lifetime photographing naked women. Now his daughter wants him to reveal himself.

Blanka, a successful film editor, decides it is time to stop leaving things unsaid and confront her father, well-known erotic photographer Vlastimil Kula. What follows is a series of encounters exploring her childhood, her father’s provocative legacy and decades of buried family history. The film captures a world that is eccentric, hilarious, uncomfortable and deeply touching, sometimes all at the same time, as Blanka attempts to understand their shared past, and find a way to connect before it’s too late.

Filmed over four years, acclaimed Czech director Filip Remunda takes an intimate, observational approach, getting up close to his characters and capturing brutally frank conversations, moments of vulnerability and unexpected tenderness. The film slowly reveals the layers of Kula, a man more comfortable with nudity than emotional openness.

Intimate, funny and deeply moving, “Love Exposed” explores what happens when a life devoted to art leaves its mark on family, and reveals how confronting the past can help break the cycle of trauma before it is passed on to the next generation.
