Lost Country
Cynical loyalty, blind detachment, political demagogy, and youthful rebelliousness clash between a mother and son in this gripping drama set during fierce presidential re-elections.
Marklena (EFA Winner Jasna Đuričić for “Quo Vadis, Aida”) is a devoted strategist and spokesperson of disgraced dictator Slobodan Milošević. 14-year-old Stefan begins to understand the evildoings of his mother and can’t hide his frustration. For the first time, he is confused about whom to support. Stefan is too ashamed to embrace Marklena, who willingly made a deal with the devil and contributed to the falsification of voting results. He is on the verge of rebelling against his mother.
Vladimir Perišić rivetingly rewinds time to the unpleasant historical past of a shady autocratic regime. His tense drama leaves a lot unspoken and unanswered.
