Learning to Breathe Under Water
The metal shark on the roof of the house can’t be Leo’s best friend forever.
Eight-year-old Leo’s best friend and confidant is a giant metal shark that his artist father built on the roof of their house. Ever since his mother passed away, Leo’s father, Peter, has fallen into a deep depression, withdrawing from everyday life – so no one is surprised by such antics any more. The shark is the perfect friend for Leo; he can confide in it, when he can no longer connect with his father, who seems to live in another world. Everything changes when the lively Bulgarian au pair Anya enters their lives. Bringing life and chaos back into the home, she helps the father and son find each other again and prompts Peter to finally face his grief.
Suitable for ages 10 and above.
