IRREPARABLE
Anger, love, frenzy, vengeance, and adrenaline. What might a woman do to save her relationship?
Alice has something to tell her sister Olivia; Olivia is buying some very sharp knives – she has a few things to take care of at home. They soon start talking about love and Olivia’s husband (or perhaps ex-husband), Garcia. One of them needs to put on the brakes before they do something irreparable.
Funny, irreverent, and frenetic, “Irreparable” takes you to unexpected places before you’ve even settled into your seat, all while sarcastically revealing the dark corners of the human mind. What is a woman capable of doing for love? Or heartbreak? And a man?
Structured across three timeframes centering on its three main characters – Olivia, Alice, and Garcia – and displaying a masterful command of language, Klych López draws on his filmmaking skills to subvert narrative structure and storytelling conventions. He leads us to unexpected places and triggers reactions with no turning back.
Diabolically entertaining and adrenaline-fuelled, the film uses its dynamic energy to make us question where life – or a movie screen – might take us. Best approached without expectations, “Irreparable” is a cinematic experience that transcends genres (and consequences).
