I’m Your Man
Maria Schrader's brainy tragicomedy was the big winner at the German academy awards – best film, best director, best script and female lead, played by an astounding Maren Eggert.
Her Alma is a scientist in need for research funds. In order to obtain them, she accepts an offer to participate in an extraordinary experiment. For three weeks, she is to live with a humanoid robot whose artificial intelligence has been designed to allow it to morph into that of her ideal life partner. Tom, a machine in human form (handsomely played by Dan Stevens), created to make her happy. What ensues is a tragi-
comic tale that explores notions of love and longing – and being human.
The film was nominated by Germany for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
