Dump of Untitled Pieces
Bold, graceful and turbulent satire about the absurdity of art.
Ambitious photographer Asli candidly takes photos of people’s hands to reveal the stories they may tell. Her best friend, computer savvy Murat cooks simple dishes full of love, but sometimes with already spoiling vegetables. They live together nearly like a married couple, who never sleeps together. Barely able to afford anything, they are treated as nothing and face eviction due to unpaid bills.
20 months ago rebellious Asli took up a camera to reclaim her broken heart. She wears a mask of confidence to pursue the luxury of being an artist in the pretentious art world. Asli dreams of showcasing her photos and escaping uncertainty, despair and loneliness with the hapless introverted Murat as her manager.
Manolya Maya who has previously worked extensively as an Assistant Director is charismatic, charming and fearless in the lead role. Director Melik Kuru cleverly takes jabs at the installations, performances and exhibitions, where curators use ChatGPT to appear smarter. He beautifully breaks the fourth wall by appearing in two radically different, yet hilarious cameos. Can you spot them for fun?
