DJ Ahmet
Can music heal all wounds?
Ahmet, a 15-year-old boy, lives far from the big cities in a small Northern Macedonian village called Yuruk, where instead of going to school, he looks after his family’s flock of sheep. But Ahmet’s true passion is not animals – above all, the young boy dreams of making music. In the conservative and religious environment around him, however, such a career choice is out of the question. When Ahmet discovers that the neighbouring girl – promised as a wife to a wealthy family – shares his passion, the two begin to devise a plan to escape the constraints of their surroundings. A thoroughly enjoyable debut, with cleverly satirical undertones that linger long after.
