Crossing the Line
Jakop, a lone fisherman on the coast of Lake Peipus has to decide whether refugees brought to his door are his way of redeeming past sins or merely a means to quickly earn much-needed cash.
The short film recently won the Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Actor awards in the student film festival Best of BFM.

Franz Malmsten is an Estonian actor and director who, despite his young age, has already made his mark in film and television. He began his studies in London, focusing on film acting, but after returning to Estonia, shifted his passion to directing and graduated from the Baltic Film and Media School. He has directed two seasons of the comedy series “Alo,” showcasing his versatility and talent for creating engaging, relatable stories. Franz is currently in pre-production with Apollo Productions on his debut feature film, set to shoot in summer 2026.
