Come & Go
During the cherry blossom season, the skeleton of an old woman is found near the centre of Osaka. Japanese detective Tomioka investigates the skeleton’s relation to a series of real estate scams by surveying the neighbourhood and interviewing its inhabitants. These characters include: a Nepalese refugee, a Vietnamese technical trainee, a Taiwanese pornography otaku, a Chinese tourist, a Hong Kongese tour guide, an Okinawan pornography director, a Malaysian travel agent, a Myanmarese foreign student, a Korean call girl agent, a Japanese-American, a Japanese country girl, an old Japanese man, and Tomioka's wife, a Japanese language teacher.
This flm portrays and follows their lives and stories, in parallel, for three days and two nights. The skeleton case is ultimately closed but the lives of each of these characters is just beginning.
Lim Kah Wai graduated from Osaka University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1998 and worked as a network engineer in Tokyo for six years. Later, he moved to China to study directing at the Beijing Film Academy and made his directorial debut “After All These Years”, which premiered at the Hong Kong International Film Festival in 2010. Also in 2010, his second film “Magic And Loss” premiered at the Busan International Film Festival. In 2011, he returned to HKIFF with “New World”, the first instalment of his Osaka trilogy, which would be followed by “Fly Me To Minami” (2013) and "Come And Go" (2020). In 2016, he made a mainstream film “Love In Late Autumn”, which was released commercially in both China and Hong Kong. Outside Asia, he has made two independent films with small crews and local amateur actors in the Balkan regions: “No Where, Now Here” was made in Slovenia and Macedonia in 2017 and “Somewhen, Somewhere” in Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia in 2018. His latest film "Come And Go" had the world premiere at Tokyo International Film Festival in 2020 and also was screened at PÖFF.
