Beril_XXX
Beril walks us through Istanbul – capturing a generation’s longing for authenticity and revolt.
Beril wanders the streets of Istanbul. A budding actress, she heads to meet a producer to pitch an ambitious, deeply personal film project. Friends, lovers, and other figures cross her path as we discover what lies behind the city's facades and the people within it.
Set over a single day in Istanbul’s uniquely bohemian district of Moda (Kadikoy), actress Doğa Lara delivers a fearless performance, beyond what-people-might-say, idly navigating love, art, and (self)censorship, in an offbeat erotic and political tale.
True enfant terrible Can Evrenol – a renowned genre filmmaker and the creator of the hit Turkish version of the memorable “The Coffee Table” (PÖFF 2022) – brings us an ode to the French New Wave. A love letter that evolves into a hymn to freedom, a poignant portrait of women’s status in that part of the world, and a snapshot of the yearning for liberty. Shot without official backing and with a small, dedicated, and committed cast and crew, “Beril_XXX” inventively takes us on a "film-within-a-film" journey – erotic, raw, and even kinky, not always comfortable, yet undeniably compelling, a true cinematic affair.
