And Their Children After Them
Nobody is born cool, it’s something you become.
August 1992. 14-year-old Anthony and his cousin kill time by the lake. They live in a rusty valley in Eastern France that they share with the extinguished furnaces and factory ruins of the once-industrious small town their parents knew. A chance meeting with an older girl, Steph, in a stifling afternoon will unlock a summer of first love that will come to change everything. A bittersweet moment in Anthony’s life marks the end of childhood and a coming of age. Rebellious and frustrated young Hacine turns both lives upside down. Over the course of four crucial summers, the destinies of Anthony, Steph, and Hacine intersect, collide, and intertwine. In this whirlwind of adolescent turmoil, love tries to forge a path.

Ludovic Boukherma (1922) was born on 5 June 1992 in Marmande, France, just like his twin brother Zoran Boukherma. Passionate about cinema from an early age, they studied at La Cité du Cinéma in Paris. It was there that they met Hugo P. Thomas and Marielle Gautier, with whom they made the comedy-drama film “Willy 1st”, which won the Prix d’Ornano for Best First Feature. In 2019, they co-directed the fantasy/werewolf comedy “Teddy” as a duo. The twins then shot their third feature film: “Year of the Shark”. Once again, a genre film mixed with comedy. They were then approached by Hugo Sélignac and Alain Attal to adapt Nicolas Mathieu's novel “And Their Children After Them”.
