Adam's Apple
An authentic and personal documentary about the upbringing of a transsexual boy.
“Adam’s Apple” is an intimate documentary of a transsexual boy named Adam, told both from the perspective of Adam and his mother, Amy Jenkins. Footage collected over two decades follows the boy’s journey in becoming a man and how his parents adjust to the related changes. Adam’s mother, filmmaker Amy Jenkins, captures all sorts of important milestones with curiosity and love: applying for universities, birthdays, doctor’s appointments and also “the funeral of breasts”. The film expresses beautifully how cinema can fulfil a therapeutic purpose by recording time and by letting go of it.
Suitable for ages 10 and above.
