How differently can children in the same family perceive a divorce?

14-year-old Eli and 16-year-old Nina are both suffering from their parents’ divorce. Nina can’t distance herself from her family fast enough, while Eli dreams of everything going back to the way it was. Told in two chapters, the film follows three weeks in the middle of a divorce twice, first from Nina’s point of view and then from Eli’s. These mirroring timelines reveal how similar moments can be experienced, felt, and understood in entirely different ways. Their opposing choices are both born from the same longing for love, acknowledgement, and emotional security. Acclaimed at the Berlin International Film Festival, “A Family” portrays how love can crumble under pressure, yet still find its way home.

Suitable for ages 12 and above.
