We are thrilled to welcome R-Kiosk as one of the newest partners of our film festival! We spoke with their Head of Marketing, Indrek Lass, to learn more about why they've decided to support the Estonian film industry.
What could a film festival and a convenience store have in common? Both PÖFF and R-Kiosk share a desire to provide people with memorable experiences and a pleasant pause in their fast-paced lives. R-Kiosk's healthy food and delicious coffee create moments of relaxation, a chance to pause without worrying. This is similar to what happens in the cinema when the lights dim and we become lost in a film. Caring for the environment is also a shared value. R-Kiosk focuses on sustainability in its operations, while PÖFF emphasises environmental awareness through a special programme of eco-themed films aimed at raising awareness among visitors.
As a partner of PÖFF, we're able to promote access to the art of film, strengthen the position of local culture and bring the spirit of the festival to everyday meeting places like R-Kiosk," says Lass, delighted to be part of such a major cultural event.
He recalls a visit to PÖFF where he watched a film about two brothers raising sheep and struggling with their relationship. "Watching it felt like I'd taken a short trip to Iceland," says Lass. That's the magic of PÖFF - the festival allows us to "visit" other countries, immerse ourselves in their cultures and experience the lives of the people there. "November is a dark and gloomy month in Estonia, so these kinds of extraordinary experiences are perfect for the long nights!" Lass remarks.
What kind of film could R-Kiosk inspire? It would be a light-hearted, everyday comedy and definitely a good mood movie! The central setting would be R-Kiosk, where people meet, share ordinary moments and experience little events that brighten their day and make them smile. "Our goal every day is to make people's lives easier and more enjoyable - that's what any film would be trying to capture," concludes Lass.
