Isabel Coixet (1960) is a Spanish film director and screenwriter. She studied History at the University of Barcelona and began her career in advertising before moving into film. Her debut feature, “Demasiado viejo para morir joven” (1988), introduced her as a promising new voice, but she achieved international recognition with “Things I Never Told You” (1996) and especially “My Life Without Me” (2003) which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival. Later notable works include “The Secret Life of Words” (2005), “Map of the Sounds of Tokyo” (2009), “The Bookshop” (2017), and “It Snows in Benidorm” (2020), among others. Her films have been screened at major international festivals, including Berlin, Cannes, Toronto, and San Sebastián, and have received multiple awards, including several Goya Awards.
