The newly restored Polish-Estonian film classic is back on screen.

Developing androids has theoretically reached the point where these could be mass-produced. It must be tested first whether androids can be preferred to human beings since robots are free from human weaknesses. In order to prove this, navigator Pirx must complete a space flight together with a crew where there are robots among human beings, in order to get the neutral evaluation of everyone's abilities. However, It turns out during the flight that even robots don't want to become mass-produced items and the moment the perfect android goes against its creator, human beings will have nothing else to rely on than their conscience.

Navigator Pirx, based on the story of world-renown science fiction writer Stanislaw Lem and co-produced with Polish studio Zespoly Filmowe goes to film history as the first Estonian, and probably one of the best sci-fi films for Eastern bloc. It is also noteworthy that the score of the film was written by now world-famous Estonian composer Arvo Pärt.
