Javier Marco (1981) is a Spanish film director and screenwriter. Trained as a Telecommunications Engineer, he also holds a master’s degree in film directing and has recently completed a directing course at the New York Film Academy. His films have received numerous awards and have been selected in the official sections of prestigious international festivals such as San Sebastián, Clermont-Ferrand, Palm Springs, Cleveland, FICG Guadalajara, and Leeds, among others. His debut feature film, “Josefina”, was selected for the San Sebastián International Film Festival in 2021, and it earned three Goya Award nominations. In 2024, he completed his second feature film, based on his 2020 short film “A la cara”, which won the 2021 Goya Award for Best Fiction Short Film. Among his other notable short films are “Uno” (2018), awarded at the Chicago, Brussels, and Rio de Janeiro film festivals and “Insalvable” (2025).
