Riga, 1975. Having lost faith in the Soviet authorities and military structure, a Captain Third Rank Valery Spagin, driven by communist ideals, decides to organize a mutiny on the frigate Storozhevoy. He starts a riot that turns into something much bigger than he originally intended. Unwilling to experience international disgrace and permit the military ship to fall into hands of the West, the Soviet authorities decide to sink Storozhevoy together with its crew.
Based on true events, the series follows the human struggle against an invincible force vividly portraying various protagonist traits and values that, exposed to the pressure of political system, threaten life and the very existence. What happens to a man who decides to oppose the reigning dictatorship based on the belief that the public good should be placed above the well-being of an elite group?
