Fränk

Tõnis Pill (1992) was born in Tallinn. He graduated from Tallinn University’s Baltic Film, Media, Arts and Communication School (BFM), specialising in film directing. He has also taken part in various directing and screenwriting workshops. After graduating he has directed commercials and worked as a first assistant director. Before directing his first full-length feature, Pill made several short fiction films, such as “Counterpoint” (2016), “Taasta side” (2017), “Kodutee” (“Homebound” (2017) and “Sinine” (“Blue”, 2020). He worked as an additional second assistant director for “Tenet” (2020). His debut feature “Fränk” premiered in 2025 and has reached over 110 000 views in Estonian cinemas. In his work, he tends to focus on realistic stories, often about adolescents, troubled family relationships, and the effects of trauma, combining drama with moments of emotional intensity.
