Tallinn Black Nights Special Screening in Helsinki

What does Tallinn have in common with cities like Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Shanghai and Tokyo? They are all among the 15 cities around the world that are home to an A-category film festival. The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival aka PÖFF is one of the largest and most distinctive film events in Northern Europe, screening over 250 feature films, having an attendance of over 80 000 and hosting over 1200 film professionals and journalists from around the world every year.

As an A-list festival, screening new films and discovering fresh talent is one of the prime missions for us. We are proud to present a special Finnish screening of Wandering Girl (NIÑA ERRANTE, Colombia/France, 2018), that won the highest prize – the Grand Prix – in the most important section of the festival (the Official Selection) last year.

Director Rubén Mendoza takes us on subtly told and exquisitely shot journey through the Colombian countryside, accompanying four sisters from different mothers who find out about each other existence after meeting for the first time at their father’s funeral. The film won the hearts of the audience, the international jury and the film critics alike, receiving praise in magazines such as Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Screen International.

We are extremely excited to able to share this story with you and would like to make a small introduction to the festival that’s taking in place in November (15.11.-1.12.2019).
