Joy and her six-year-old daughter Angel’s evening is suddenly interrupted when Joy’s husband Dante comes home violently drunk and angry. He beats up Joy and also harms Angel. Joy and Angel run to the nearest police station. It is obviously not the first time this has happened and Joy files a formal complaint to bring Dante to justice.
In documentary style Gutierrez leads us in the ever more suffocating labyrinth of the Filipin bureaucratic court system, were too many cases are handled by too few people and the patriarchal society still prevails.
Famous Filipin director Brillante Mendoza is the artistic consultant and producer on Gutierrez first feature film.
