Synopsis

An historical film about King Sejong and his allies who helped bring to life the new script for the Korean language. At a time when writing and reading was a privilege afforded by few, the king wanted to make it accessible and understandable for everyone. Others in power immediately saw this as a threat to their existence and fought back.

With endearing characters and insights that echo to this day, director Cho Chul-hyun crafts a heartfelt and thought provoking film on a grand scale.
