Both Salim’s and Kamala’s paths in life have separately gone through different ways and end up in the city of Bombay, where they sell flowers from across the busy road from each other, when one day they notice one-another and fall in love. The city of Bombay on the other hand doesn’t have much mercy on them or their love.
With rich animations by the awarded animator Gitanjali Rao, problems of migration, child labour and moral are brought to the audience. These are entwined with beautiful fantasies from the characters’ original homes. Love and faith in Bombay are like a rose, which aspires towards an ideal and has only its thorns to protect itself.
“Gitanjali Rao’s debut feature is a stunningly realised work of animated film-making.” (Fionnuala Halligan, Screen)
