And the audience award of Tartuff goes to…
Finnish drama Stupid Young Heart and Italian comedy When Mom Is Away were the most popular films at the 14th Tartu Love Film Festival, both seen by a crowd of nearly 2300 people. Documentary The Journey – A Story Of Love earned the highest score. The Swiss documentary by Fanny Bräuning scored the highest at the 5-star system ratings as voted by the festival audience, receiving the honorary sculpture “Kissing Students“ by Mati Karmin.
Stupid Young Heart by Selma Vihunen, telling a tale of two 15-year-olds who decide to have a child after accidental impregnation, was also rated very highly by the audience. Only one film received a higher number of votes, the Danish comedy Ditte & Louise, by Niclas Benedixen.
It was a rare occasion that Tartuff screened a documentary at the main open-air screen: the midnight screening of Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love was received warmly by a crowd of over 800 people.
The most popular documentary screening in the Athena cinema was the world premiere of Long Live Rock, attended by a full house – 250 people.
The festival, which couldn’t escape a day of heavy rainfall, attracted 15 000 attendances this year.
